Zoom webinar – book here
Gianfranco Chicco, editor of The Craftsman Newsletter, will be hosting an online conversation with artist & writer Bonnie Kemske on her upcoming book, Kintsugi: The Poetic Mend.
Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi), is the method used to put back together broken objects using lacquer and gold powder. In Bonnie’s book she goes beyond just the physical meaning of the repairs and into the emotional one, something which feels timely given the aftermath left by 2020:
‘Everything with a shape, breaks.’ So goes the Japanese saying. Kintsugi, the Japanese repair technique, takes shards of destruction and creates new pieces with highlighted seams of gold. These golden seams speak of kintsugi’s innate metaphor of fortitude, individuality, and the beauty to be found in the strength of overcoming loss and hardship.
During the session Gianfranco will be taking questions from the audience and will also share a code to buy the book with a 20% discount.
